About this integration
ControlMap helps you identify the security and compliance work a client needs to do — enabling MFA, deploying endpoint protection, upgrading backups, and more. With this integration you can turn any of those action items into a planned project in ScalePad Lifecycle Manager without leaving ControlMap.
From a ControlMap action item you can create a brand-new Lifecycle Manager initiative, or link the action item to an initiative that already exists. The action item then shows which initiatives it's connected to, so your compliance work and your client's IT roadmap stay in sync.
Requires Lifecycle Manager Pro. This feature is available when your ScalePad subscription includes Lifecycle Manager Pro and you have access to the client in Lifecycle Manager. If you don't have access, contact your ScalePad administrator.
Permissions and access
This feature appears only for MSP users working inside a client's ControlMap portal. Client users (users who belong to the client) don't see anything related to Initiatives.
For MSP users, what you see depends on Lifecycle Manager Pro entitlement:
The client isn't subscribed to Lifecycle Manager Pro
The Linked Initiatives section shows an upgrade prompt with a Learn More link instead of the linking controls.
You don't have access to Lifecycle Manager Pro (but the client does)
The section asks you to request access — contact your ScalePad administrator.
Link an action item to an initiative
Action items live on the To do board. You can view them two ways — switch with the Kanban / List toggle at the top right:
- Kanban — action items as cards, grouped by status.
- List — action items in a table.

List view:
From either view, open an action item to work with its linked initiatives.
- Open the action item in ControlMap.
- In the Linked Initiatives section, select Link Initiative.
Create a new initiative
- In the panel, choose Create New Initiative.
- Enter a Title, choose a Status, and set a Schedule (year and quarter). All of these are required.
- Select Link Initiative.
The new initiative is created in Lifecycle Manager and added to the client's roadmap. A link back to this ControlMap action item is written into the initiative's Executive Summary — the first field on a Lifecycle Manager Pro initiative.
Phase 1: The Lifecycle Manager side of this integration is currently limited to this callback link in the Executive Summary. A future phase will deepen the two-way integration on the Lifecycle Manager side.
Add to an existing initiative
- In the panel, choose Link Other Existing Initiatives.
- Search for an initiative by name and select it (tick its checkbox). You can select more than one.
- Select Link Initiative.
What this looks like in Lifecycle Manager
When you create a new initiative from an action item, a link back to that ControlMap action item is added to the initiative's Executive Summary (the first field on a Lifecycle Manager Pro initiative). The link reads (ControlMap) followed by the action item's ID and name — for example, “(ControlMap) ID-1-1: <action item title>”. Clicking it opens the action item in ControlMap in a new window.
View linked initiatives
Once an action item is linked, the Linked Initiatives section lists each connected initiative with its schedule, status, and creation date. Select an initiative name to open it in Lifecycle Manager.
Unlink an initiative
- In the Linked Initiatives table, select Unlink on the initiative's row (in the Action column).
- Confirm in the dialog.
Unlinking removes the connection in ControlMap. The initiative itself is not deleted from Lifecycle Manager.
