About

LaunchPad is the search and quick-create window in ControlMap. Use it to jump straight to a control, piece of evidence, risk, action item, policy or procedure without browsing the sidebar, and to start a new risk, action item, piece of evidence, asset or vendor from any page.

LaunchPad is in the top bar on every page. Quick create is available to Super Admin and Compliance Manager users.

Open LaunchPad

You can open LaunchPad in either of these ways:

  • Select the LaunchPad box in the top bar.
  • Press ⌘K on a Mac, or Ctrl K on Windows.

Press Esc to close LaunchPad.

LaunchPad open with the search box on the left and the Quick create tiles on the right

LaunchPad has two halves. The search box, Search for anything, is on the left. Before you type, it shows "Find what you need" and the line "Search controls, evidence, risks, action items, policies, and procedures." The Quick create tiles are on the right.

Search for a record

  1. Open LaunchPad.
  2. Type part of the title or ID of what you are looking for, for example assessment.
  3. Select a result, or use the arrow keys and press Enter.

Results appear under "Search results" as you type. LaunchPad shows up to 10 results, each as an ID followed by a title, such as "GOV-6: Annual risk assessment". While it is looking, it shows "Searching…". If nothing matches, it shows "No results found."

Keep these points in mind when you search:

  • Search covers all of your frameworks, not just the one you are viewing.
  • Selecting a result opens that record in a new browser tab, so the page you were on stays open.
  • Results can also include employee compliance tasks and documents.

Create a record with quick create

Quick create lets you add a record without leaving the page you are on. Type / in the search box and the box turns into a list headed "Quick create". You can also select a tile on the right.

LaunchPad after typing a slash, showing the Quick create list: Risk, Action item, Evidence, Asset and Vendor

These are the five quick-create commands, with the shortcut you can type after opening LaunchPad:

  • Risk (/r): records and assesses a risk.
  • Action item (/t): tracks remediation work.
  • Evidence (/e): collects compliance evidence.
  • Asset (/a): adds an inventory asset.
  • Vendor (/v): adds a vendor or service.

Tiles are hidden when your plan or evidence limit does not allow you to create that type of record.

Steps to create a record

  1. Open LaunchPad.
  2. Type / and choose a command, type its shortcut such as /r and press Enter, or select a tile.
  3. Type a name for the record in the box at the top of the form.
  4. Optionally, select any of the fields shown below the name to fill them in.
  5. Select Save, or press ⌘ Enter on a Mac or Ctrl Enter on Windows.

The record is created as soon as you select Save. A message such as "Risk created." appears and the page refreshes.

The Create Risk form with a name box and the Owner, Department, Category, Impact and Likelihood fields

The form heading reads "Create" followed by the record type. For a risk, the name box asks you to "Name the risk" and you can also set these fields:

  • Owner
  • Department
  • Category
  • Impact
  • Likelihood

To leave without creating anything, select Cancel or press Esc. To return to search instead, select Back.
