About

The Dashboard is your whole-company compliance picture on one page. It shows one health score, one risk score, how far each framework has got, progress on action items, evidence and documents, and what changed recently. A second tab compares today with an earlier date.

The Dashboard always covers your whole client, with every framework combined. It does not change when you pick a framework in the sidebar. To see one framework on its own, open that framework's Overview page.

Who can see it:

  • Super Admins and Compliance Managers see the Dashboard. Auditors only see Audits in their menu.

Open the Dashboard

  1. In the sidebar, select Dashboard. It is the first item, above To do and Monitor.
  2. Choose a tab at the top of the page: Summary (opens first) or Comparison.

The Summary tab

From top to bottom, the Summary tab shows Compliance Health Score and Risk Score, then Compliance Achieved and Risk Breakdown, then Progress History, the progress tiles and Recent Activity. The top of the page looks like this:

The Dashboard Summary tab showing the Compliance Health Score card with a line chart and the Risk Score card with a gauge

Compliance Health Score

This card shows how well your whole client is doing across everything ControlMap tracks.

  • The big number is the score out of 10, with one decimal. Under it, the caption reads "Risk level" followed by the band the score falls in. This band describes your health score. It is not the Risk Score.
  • Bands: above 7.5 is Healthy, above 5 is Average, above 2.5 is At Risk, and 2.5 or below is Critical. With no data, the card shows "--".
  • Three trend figures show how the score has moved "in the last 30 days", "in the last 60 days" and "in the last 90 days". An arrow shows the direction. "No change" means the number did not move. "--" means there is no saved score that old yet.
  • A line chart plots the score over time against the four bands.

Compliance Health Breakdown

To see what is lifting or lowering the score, select the i icon next to the number. The "Compliance Health Breakdown" window opens:

The Compliance Health Breakdown window with one bar for each of Documentation, Evidence, Frameworks, Risk, Action Item and Scan Results

  • It shows one bar for each category: Documentation, Evidence, Frameworks, Risk, Action Item and Scan Results.
  • Each bar is scored from 0 to 10 and sits against the same four bands as the main score.
  • A category with no data has no bar. If nothing has data, the window reads "Health breakdown unavailable".
  • Select Learn more to open the Help Center.

Select the close button (X) to return to the Dashboard.

Risk Score

This card summarises your risk register as one number.

  • A half-circle gauge runs from 1 to 25 with four bands: Low, Medium, High and Severe. The score sits in the middle and a needle points to it.
  • Three trend figures show the change "in the last 90 days", "in the last 60 days" and "in the last 30 days". They are measured in score points on the 1 to 25 scale, even though they show a "%" sign.
  • Select How is risk calculated? to open "Risk Level Calculation". It explains that Risk Level = Average Likelihood Score × Average Impact Score, with each average rounded to the nearest whole number.
  • With no risks, the card reads "Risk overview unavailable". Risk levels appear after you add and assess risks.

Compliance Achieved

The second row of the Summary tab shows Compliance Achieved on the left and Risk Breakdown on the right:

The Compliance Achieved card with three framework rings next to the Risk Breakdown stacked bar chart

Compliance Achieved shows how far each framework has got, side by side:

  • Each column shows the change over the last 30 days, the framework name, and a ring chart with the share of objectives that are Compliant in the middle.
  • The ring is split by objective status: Not Assessed, Compliant, Partially Compliant, In Review and Not Compliant. Not Applicable objectives are left off the ring and are not counted in the percentage.
  • Three frameworks show at a time. When you have more, use the left and right arrows to page through them. The dots and a line such as "1-3 of 5 Frameworks" show where you are.
  • Select a ring to open a window with the framework's name and a status-by-status breakdown, with counts and percentages.
  • With no frameworks, the card reads "Framework progress will show here".

Risk Breakdown

Risk Breakdown is a stacked bar chart. Each bar shows how many risks were Low, Medium, High and Severe on one date, and the latest bar is today. With no history, it reads "Risk history unavailable".

Progress History

Progress History charts how far a category has got over time. Use the drop-down at the top right to choose the category:

  • Objectives
  • Action Items (shown by default)
  • Evidence
  • Documents

Three trend figures show the change in the last 90, 60 and 30 days, and an area chart plots the percentage over time. With no saved history yet, it reads "No progress history". Here is Progress History with the progress tiles underneath:

The Progress History chart for Action Items with the Action Items and Evidence progress tiles below it

Progress tiles

Under Progress History you see one tile per category, two to a row: Action Items, Evidence, Documents and, when you have custom controls, Custom Controls. Each tile has:

  • A ring with the percentage in the middle. The ring counts Completed for Action Items and Evidence, Approved for Documents, and Implemented for Custom Controls.
  • A bar for each status, with its count and share. For example, Action Items shows Completed, Review, In Progress and Not Started, and Documents shows Approved, Ready For Approval, In Review, In Progress and Draft.
  • A line such as "0 Not Applicable" with an i icon. Hover over it to read "Not Applicable items are excluded from progress percentages."

Select a tile or its title to open the matching list for all frameworks: Plan of Action, Evidence, Documents or Custom Controls.

Recent Activity

Recent Activity lists what changed for your client in the last 30 days, in lines such as "3 Evidences created." or "1 Action Item completed."

  • Select a line to open the list of items behind it.
  • Select View More to open Settings › Activity.
  • With nothing to show, it reads "No recent activity".

If part of the page does not load

If some data fails to load, a warning reads "Some dashboard sections could not be loaded. Available sections are shown below." Select Try again to reload them.

The Comparison tab

The Comparison tab sets an earlier date next to today so you can see what moved.

  1. On the Dashboard, select Comparison.
  2. In the first drop-down, choose Overall Progress (all frameworks combined) or one framework. This is the one place on the Dashboard where you choose a framework.
  3. In the second drop-down, choose the earlier date: 30 days ago (the default), 3 months ago, 6 months ago, 1 year ago or Custom date. With Custom date, a calendar button appears. A date later than today is refused with "Custom date cannot be later than today."
  4. Read each section. The earlier snapshot is on the left, labelled with the period, and Current is on the right.
  5. Open the "Changes" row under a section to see the individual items that moved, with each old status and its new status.

The tab has five sections:

  • Risk Overview
  • Objectives
  • Action Items
  • Evidence
  • Documents

Each section has a collapsible row underneath named after it, such as "Objectives Changes". When Overall Progress is selected, Risk Overview shows the gauge and the breakdown. When a single framework is selected, it shows the breakdown only. If a date has no saved data, that side reads "Data not available" and "There is no data available for the selected time range."

Ask Copilot about the Dashboard

The Copilot button is at the top right of the page. It gives you three ready-made questions about your Dashboard.

  1. Select Copilot.
  2. Choose Summarize compliance health, Summarize weekly priorities or Analyze top risks.

Your choice opens the Copilot panel and starts a new conversation with that request.

How the numbers are calculated

Compliance Health Score

The score is one combined result for your whole client, not an average of the six bars. Each area earns points against a target. The score is the total points earned divided by the total target, shown out of 10. An area with many items therefore counts for more than an area with few. How each area earns points:

  • Frameworks: Compliant objectives count as 1. Partially Compliant and In Review objectives count as half. Not Applicable objectives are left out.
  • Documentation: Approved and Ready For Approval documents count as 1. In Progress and In Review documents count as half. Every document is in the target.
  • Evidence and Action Item: Completed items count as 1. Overdue items that are In Progress or In Review count as half. The target is the completed items plus every overdue item, so open items that are not yet overdue are not counted either way.
  • Risk: Assessed and Remediated risks count as 1. Risks marked "Assessment in progress" or "Needs Remediation" count as half. Closed risks are left out.
  • Scan Results: the automated compliance checks that pass, out of all checks that ran.

Assessment questions are not part of the score. Each bar in the Compliance Health Breakdown uses the same method for its area on its own.

Trend figures

A trend figure compares today with the most recent saved score that is at least 30, 60 or 90 days old. The change is measured on the 0 to 100 scale the score is calculated on, and shown with a "%" sign. For example, "▼ 4%" on a score of 3.9 means the score fell by about 0.4 out of 10. Risk Score trends work the same way, in points on the 1 to 25 scale.

Other cards

  • Risk Score: ControlMap averages the current impact and the current likelihood of every risk in your register, rounds each average to a whole number, and reads that pair off the risk matrix. It is not the average of the individual risk scores.
  • Compliance Achieved: the Compliant objectives divided by all objectives that are not Not Applicable, rounded. The figure at the top is the change over the last 30 days.
  • Progress History and tiles: the percentage complete for each category. The tiles use live counts and the history uses saved daily snapshots. The chart groups points by day at first, by week once the history is more than 8 weeks old, and by month once it is more than 6 months old.
  • Comparison: the earlier side uses the latest saved snapshot on or before the date you chose. The right side is today.
