About
The ConnectSecure integration brings your clients' vulnerability and asset data from ConnectSecure (previously called CyberCNS) into ControlMap, so you can show vulnerabilities are monitored without exporting reports by hand. You connect it once in the MSP portal, and it covers all of your clients.
ControlMap collects these from ConnectSecure:
- Your companies, which appear in ControlMap as prospect tenants.
- The assets in each company.
- The vulnerabilities found on those assets.
- Security metrics for each asset.
ControlMap also runs compliance checks on this data. Once a company becomes an active client, the checks and their results appear in that client's portal.
Before you start
You need the following:
- Access to the MSP portal.
- A ConnectSecure account on the current version of ConnectSecure (version 4). The integration works with the current ConnectSecure API only.
- The details ControlMap asks for on the Setup Connection step: your Base URL, your Tenant Name, and a Client Id and Client Secret.
Enter the Base URL without https://, for example pod100.myconnectsecure.com. ControlMap adds https:// for you.
Connect ConnectSecure
- In the MSP portal, go to Integrations and select + Integration. If you have no integrations yet, select Create Connection instead.
- Under Asset Management, find the ConnectSecure card and select Connect.
- On the Setup Connection step, fill in these fields:
- Base URL: your ConnectSecure base URL, without https://.
- Tenant Name: the tenant name of your ConnectSecure portal.
- Client Id: your ConnectSecure client ID.
- Client Secret: your ConnectSecure client secret.
- Select Create & Next.
ControlMap tests the details before it saves anything. If the connection fails, an error message appears under the form and nothing is saved. Client Id and Client Secret are hidden as you type.
- On the Schedule step, choose a Day of the week and a Time of the day. Scans run weekly.
- Select Save & Scan Now to save and scan straight away, or select Save Schedule to save only. Then select Got It. to close the confirmation.
The first sync typically takes a few minutes before your companies and results start to show.
What you'll see after connecting
Select the integration from the list on the Integrations page to open it. The page has these tabs:
- Compliance Checks: Automated scan results, with Passed, Failed and Error tiles that filter the list of checks. Checks show No Data until the first scan finishes.
- Companies: your ConnectSecure companies, with their Company, Status, Last Update and Identifier. You can search with Search Company.
- Assets: a chart of asset counts over time and a table with Client Name, Asset Name, Identifier, Region, Status, Last Updated and Last Seen. Select Additional Information on a row to see the full record from ConnectSecure.
- Vulnerabilities: a Right Now card with the total and the Critical, High, Medium and Low counts, a trend chart, and a table with Client Name, Name, Severity, Product, Base Score, Impact Score, Exploit Score and Assets.
- Help: guidance for the integration.
- Connection: the saved settings, and whether ControlMap is connected.
- Schedule: when scans run.
Compliance checks
ControlMap runs these checks on the data it collects:
- Anti-virus is installed and update to date
- Local firewall is enabled for both public and private networks
- There are no insecure listening ports
- No failed interactive logins in the past 7 days
- No network vulnerabilities
- System aging
- Is the OS supported
- Is backup software installed
- Assets are monitored and inventoried
- Vulnerabilities are monitored and inventoried
Prospect tenants
Each company ControlMap finds becomes a prospect tenant. To use it as a client, select Activate Tenant, which creates an active tenant and uses a license, or merge it into an existing tenant. Once a company is an active client, its assets, vulnerabilities and checks appear in that client's portal under Monitor, as a connection with a Partner badge that the client can't edit.
Change or remove the connection
Update the connection details or the schedule
- In the MSP portal, go to Integrations and select ConnectSecure.
- To change the connection details, select the Connection tab, edit the fields and select Update Connection. ControlMap tests the details again before it saves.
- To change when scans run, select the Schedule tab, choose a new day and time, and select Save Schedule or Save & Scan Now.
To scan at any time, select Run Once on the integration's page. The label changes to Running while the scan runs, and Force Stop appears so you can stop it.
Delete the integration
- On the Integrations page, select the trash icon on the ConnectSecure row.
- If the integration already has active client tenants, choose Keep data, delete integration to keep the data it already brought in, or Delete data and integration to remove that data. Deleting the data can't be undone.
- Type DELETE and select Delete.
ControlMap confirms with "Successfully deleted the integration."
