About

The Lifecycle Manager integration brings your ScalePad Lifecycle Manager clients and hardware assets into ControlMap. ControlMap adds warranty details to each asset and checks your assets against compliance requirements, so the results are ready as automatically collected evidence for your clients' frameworks and audits.

This integration is set up in the MSP portal and uses a ScalePad API key. It collects:

  • Your Lifecycle Manager clients, which appear in ControlMap as prospect clients with their name and primary domain.
  • Your clients' hardware assets, with warranty details attached by serial number.

ControlMap runs three compliance checks on this data:

  • Assets have active and valid warranty.
  • Create and maintain an asset inventory.
  • Assets have active and up to date antivirus installed.
The Lifecycle Manager card is offered only to MSPs in the GovCloud region. If your MSP is not in GovCloud, you won't see it in the catalog. The PSA & RMM (Using ScalePad) integration brings in the same Lifecycle Manager companies, devices and warranty data, and uses your ScalePad hub sign-in instead of an API key.

Before you start

You need:

  • Access to the Integrations tab in the MSP portal.
  • A ScalePad Lifecycle Manager API key. You enter it in the API key field when you connect.

Connect Lifecycle Manager

  1. In the MSP portal, select Integrations in the top bar.
  2. Select Integration (the button is labelled with a plus sign). If you have no integrations yet, select Create Connection instead. The catalog, "Connect your tools and services", opens.
  3. Under Asset Management, find the Lifecycle Manager card and select Connect. The card reads "Sync Lifecycle Manager clients and hardware assets into ControlMap".
  4. On the first step, Setup Connection, enter your Lifecycle Manager API key in the API key field and select Create & Next. ControlMap tests the key before it saves anything. If the key is rejected, nothing is saved and a red message appears under the form, such as "Lifecycle Manager connection was rejected" followed by a code, or "Unable to connect to Lifecycle Manager."
  5. On the second step, Schedule, choose the Day of the week and the Time of the day. Scans run weekly. The default is Tue at 01:00 pm.
  6. Select Save & Scan Now to save the schedule and start a scan straight away, or select Save Schedule to wait for the scheduled time. Then select Got It. in the confirmation that appears.

It typically takes a few minutes for the results and clients to start showing up. When the connection works, Lifecycle Manager appears in your Integrations list with a Connected status and its scan schedule.

What you'll see after connecting

Select Lifecycle Manager in the list to open it. The header shows its name, a Running or Not Running label and a Run Once button. The integration has these tabs: Compliance Checks, Companies, Assets, Help, Connection and Schedule.

Compliance Checks

The Compliance Checks tab shows "Automated scan results" with Passed, Failed and Error tiles. Select a tile to filter the list below it. Each of the three checks shows its latest result, and you can turn a check on or off with its toggle in the Enable column. Select a check's scan result to see all earlier scans and the evidence collected during them.

Companies

The Companies tab lists the Lifecycle Manager clients ControlMap found. It has these columns:

  • Company
  • Status: new clients start as Prospect.
  • Last Update
  • Identifier

Use the Search Company box to find a company. The list shows 40 companies per page. You can then activate a prospect as a client or merge it into a client you already have.

Assets

The Assets tab starts with a Historical Asset Count chart that shows how many assets ControlMap has collected over time. Below it, use the Search Asset box and the table, which has these columns:

  • Client Name
  • Asset Name
  • Identifier
  • Region: the location name of the device.
  • Status: how many checks the asset failed and passed.
  • Last Updated
  • Last Seen
  • Additional Information: select it to open a side panel with the full record from Lifecycle Manager.

In your clients' portals

Once you activate a prospect as a client, its assets and compliance checks appear in that client's portal under Monitor, as a connection with a Partner badge that the client can't edit. The compliance checks become automatically collected evidence, mapped to framework objectives.

Change settings or remove the integration

Change the schedule

  1. Open Lifecycle Manager from the Integrations list and select the Schedule tab.
  2. Choose a Day of the week and a Time of the day.
  3. Select Save Schedule, or select Save & Scan Now to save and start a scan.

To scan at any other time, select Run Once in the page header. A message says the scan is scheduled to start in the next few minutes, and the label changes to Running. While a scan is running, a Force Stop button appears.

Change or replace the API key

Select the Connection tab. It shows "Successfully connected to Lifecycle Manager." and your saved key as dots.

To use a new key, enter it in the API key field and select Update Connection. ControlMap tests the key again before saving it. If you leave the hidden value as it is, ControlMap keeps the key it has stored. Select Cancel to leave without changes.

Rename the integration

The integration's name in the page header can be edited in place.

Delete the integration

  1. In the Integrations list, select the bin icon on the Lifecycle Manager row. The dialog "Delete Lifecycle Manager integration?" opens.
  2. If the integration already has active clients, choose one option: Keep data, delete integration keeps everything ControlMap has already collected and any links created from it. Delete data and integration deletes all collected data and the links created from it, and this can't be undone. If it has no active clients, there is no choice to make and the delete removes the integration's data.
  3. Type DELETE in capitals and select Delete.

ControlMap confirms with "Successfully deleted the integration."
