Connect to JumpCloud

Overview:

JumpCloud changes the way IT administrators manage their organizations by providing a comprehensive and flexible cloud directory platform. From one pane of glass, manage user identities and resource access, secure Mac, Windows, and Linux devices, and get a full view of your environment.

What is administrator account?

Administrator Account means an account with elevated privileges that allows users to make changes that affect other Users or configuration settings (e.g., change security settings, install software and hardware, access all files on a system or make changes to other user accounts).

Creating JumpCloud Administrators:

To create administrator accounts:

1. Log in to the JumpCloud Administrator Portal: https://console.jumpcloud.com.

2. In the top right of the Portal, click the circle with your initials to access your JumpCloud Account menu.

3. Select Administrators. The Administrators panel appears.

4. Click (+). The New Administrator panel appears.

5. Enter a unique email address, then select a Role for the administrator account. Learn about JumpCloud administrator account roles.

6. Select Enable Multifactor Authentication for Login (*optional).

7. Click create.

8. The user will receive an email to the specified address with a link to create a password. Once their password is set, the administrator can log in to the Administrator portal and manage JumpCloud.

9. The administrator account user will be sent an email to the address you specify during account creation. This email contains a link to set the initial password for their account. After they set their password, the new admin can log in to the Administrator Portal and manage JumpCloud.

API Key Considerations

This API key is associated with the administrator currently logged in. Only administrator roles can access the API. Command runners receive a 403 error.

Important: Do not share this API key, as it grants full access to any data accessible via your JumpCloud admin account.

Recycling or Resetting Your API Key

To revoke access with the current API key, click Generate New API Key in the API settings window. This renders all calls using the previous API key inaccessible.
