When you connect an integration at the MSP level, ControlMap can create a prospect tenant for a company that already has an existing tenant. For more information about prospect tenants and pre-assessments, see Multi-tenant MSP Dashboard. The data from the integration doesn’t appear in the existing tenant until you merge the prospect into it.
After the merge, information ingested through the MSP-level integration appears in the target tenant. Without the merge, the integration data remains associated with the prospect and isn’t available in the tenant you already use.
This article explains why and how to merge or unmerge tenants, and which tenants can be merge targets.
Who can use this feature?
Users with tenants on the ControlMap Pro plan.
Merge target requirements
Tenant merging is directional. You merge a prospect tenant into an existing tenant that you want to use as the destination.
Only tenants with a Pro license can be selected as merge targets. Free and Essential tenants don’t appear in the merge search results.
Each tenant in your account can have a different plan. As a result, some tenants can appear in the search results while others don’t.
Merge a prospect tenant
To merge a prospect into an existing tenant:
Sign in to your MSP Portal.
On the dashboard, search for the company you want to merge.
Find the prospect tenant. The tenant card displays Prospect.
On the prospect card, open the three-dot menu and select Merge tenant.
In the Merge Tenant dialog, use the Search tenant to merge field to find the existing tenant.
Select the existing Pro tenant as the destination, then confirm the merge.
After the merge, the prospect’s integration data is associated with the selected destination tenant. Select the correct prospect and destination before you confirm the merge.
Unmerge a tenant
You can unmerge a prospect after you merge it into an existing tenant.
Warning: Unmerging recreates the merged company as a prospect and removes its integration data from the destination tenant.
On the destination tenant’s card, click Overview.
Click the number of merged tenants. For example, click 1 merged tenant.
In the tenants window, find the merged tenant and click Unmerge.
After you unmerge the tenant, ControlMap recreates the company as a prospect.
If the target tenant doesn’t appear
If the existing tenant doesn’t appear in the Merge Tenant dialog:
Find the target tenant’s card in the MSP Portal.
Check the plan badge on the card.
If the tenant is on the Free or Essential plan, select Upgrade on the tenant card, or contact your account manager to upgrade it to the Pro plan.
After the tenant has a Pro license, return to the prospect card, select Merge tenant, and search for the target tenant again.
