About
The BambooHR integration keeps your client's employee list in ControlMap up to date. ControlMap reads employee details from BambooHR on a schedule and uses them to create and update the people and user accounts in ControlMap, so you don't have to maintain them by hand. This matters for compliance because an auditor expects an accurate list of who works for the client, and when each person started and left.
For each employee, ControlMap collects:
- First name and last name
- Work email
- Hire date
- Termination date
- Status
ControlMap signs in to BambooHR with an API key, so there is no separate sign-in page to approve.
Before you start
Have these ready from your client's BambooHR account:
- Setting up integrations from the client portal is part of the Pro plan. For details, see the Free, Essentials and Pro plans article.
- An API key. The field's placeholder says "API Key from your Bamboo HR developer settings".
- Your site subdomain. The field's placeholder says "i.e. Subdomain from your bamboo HR URL".
Connect BambooHR
- Go to Monitor › Integrations and select Add Integration.
- Search for Bamboo HR and select the Bamboo HR card.
- On the Connection step, enter a Connection Name.
- Enter your API Key and your Site subdomain. All three fields are required.
- Optional: tick Invite employees to Compliance Portal. Any new email address ControlMap discovers is then invited to ControlMap's My Compliance Portal. The box is not ticked by default.
- Select Next: Checks. ControlMap checks the API key with BambooHR before it saves the connection.
The Connection step also shows a help panel on the right, with a Read this article on Support Portal link and steps for setting up access in BambooHR.
Complete the remaining steps as described in the Connect an integration article.
What you'll see after connecting
ControlMap creates or updates a person and a user account for each employee who has a work email in BambooHR. Employees without a work email are skipped. The data appears after the first scan:
- In People, where the Provider column shows where each person came from. Job title is filled in when BambooHR provides it.
- In Monitor › User Accounts, where the accounts show Bamboo as their provider.
A person's status follows BambooHR:
- Terminated: the person has a termination date in BambooHR.
- Disabled: the person's BambooHR status is Inactive.
- Active: the person's BambooHR status is Active.
Disconnect or change settings
To change the schedule, who is watching, or the saved connection details, go to Monitor › Integrations and open the connection's card. The Connect an integration article describes each tab and how to run a scan straight away.
To delete the connection, select the bin icon on its card and choose Yes when "Delete Integration?" asks you to confirm. Deleting an integration also deletes all of its assets and their compliance status.
