About
The Checkr integration brings background check status into ControlMap automatically. ControlMap finds the candidates in your client's Checkr account, checks the status of their background checks and captures the results as evidence. This shows auditors that the people with access to your client's systems have been screened.
When it scans, the integration does these things:
- Creates a user account for each Checkr candidate, with the provider Checkr.
- Counts a candidate's background check as complete when their Checkr report has the status "complete".
- Matches candidates to people already in ControlMap by email address, so a person's latest background check status is kept up to date.
- Runs one compliance check: Background check status in Checkr. It scores each user account on whether the background check is complete.
Before you start
Have these ready:
- Setting up integrations from the client portal is part of the Pro plan. For details, see the Free, Essentials and Pro plans article.
- Your client's Checkr account, and a Checkr user who can sign in to it. You sign in to Checkr during setup and approve ControlMap's access.
- Candidates whose email addresses in Checkr match the email addresses of the people in ControlMap, if you want their status linked to those people.
ControlMap's setup page also notes that a new Checkr account must be credentialed by Checkr's Customer Success team before it can request background checks.
Connect Checkr
- Go to Monitor › Integrations and select Add Integration.
- Search for Checkr. Its card shows the category Background Checks and the description "Sync users into ControlMap from Checkr".
- Select the Checkr card. The setup page opens on the Connection step.
- On the Connection step, select Connect to Checkr. There are no fields to fill in.
- Sign in to your client's Checkr account on Checkr's page and approve ControlMap's access. When Checkr finishes, you return to ControlMap.
- Select Next: Checks. It stays off until Checkr returns you to ControlMap. If you come back to this step later, the button reads Reconnect to Checkr.
- Complete the remaining steps as described in the Connect an integration article.
The setup page also shows a help panel on the right that describes what the connector does.
What you'll see after connecting
ControlMap collects Checkr data on the schedule you chose, and shows it in these places:
- User Accounts in Monitor: one account for each Checkr candidate, with the provider Checkr.
- Compliance Checks in Monitor: the check Background check status in Checkr. It shows No Data until the first scan finishes.
- The Background checks tile on the Monitor dashboard, which counts clear, flagged, expired, failed and pending background checks.
Disconnect or change settings
To change the schedule, watchers or other settings, go to Monitor › Integrations and select the Checkr card. See the Connect an integration article for the tabs on the connection's page.
To remove the connection, select the bin icon on the Checkr card and choose Yes to confirm. Deleting an integration also deletes all of its assets and their compliance status.
