About

Settings in the MSP portal is where you manage your own team's access, your company name and logo (including whether clients see that logo), the progress stages you use to track clients, and a log of what has happened in the portal.

Settings is for Super Admins. Compliance Managers see only the Dashboard in the top bar, so they don't reach Settings. Changing a user's role is available to Super Admins only.

Settings is a set of tiles in three groups:

  • Team: Users (add, remove, disable or activate system users).
  • Account: MSP Admin Details (manage co-branding logo, company name) and Progress Stage (configure progress stages).
  • Activity: Activity (track activity for users and tenants).

To open it, select Settings in the top bar, then select a tile. Each page has a link back to Settings.

Manage MSP users

The Users page lists everyone with access to your MSP portal under the heading "System users". It has these columns:

  • Name
  • Email
  • Role: Super Admin or Compliance Manager
  • Job Title
  • Actions

The table shows 40 users per page, with a count and page selector at the bottom. Each row has three icons in Actions (hover over an icon to see its name):

  • Edit user role (pencil): Super Admins only, and not on your own row.
  • Login Activity (download icon): opens a side panel with that user's sign-ins.
  • Revoke access (ban icon): greyed out on your own row and when you are the only user.

Give a teammate access to the MSP portal

Users are created in the ScalePad Hub, which manages users across all your ScalePad products. In ControlMap you grant people from the Hub access to the portal.

  1. Select Settings › Users › Add user access.
  2. A message, "Users are now managed in the ScalePad Hub", explains how access works. Select Got it.
  3. In the panel "Select users to grant access to ControlMap", find people with Search Users, or tick Select all, then tick each person you want.
  4. Select Grant access. A message says "Successfully granted access to selected user(s)." and the people appear in the table.

The message Users are now managed in the ScalePad Hub, shown after selecting Add user access

Good to know:

  • Everyone you grant access to starts as a Super Admin. You choose a different role afterwards.
  • If the person isn't in the Hub yet, select Invite more user (it opens ScalePad's user management in a new tab). When a search finds nobody, Invite user is offered instead, with the text "Can't find user? Send an invitation from ScalePad Hub."

Change a user's role

  1. Select Settings › Users, then select the pencil on that user's row. The "Change User Role" dialog asks you to select a new role to update their permissions.
  2. Under "Select role to assign", choose Super Admin or Compliance Manager.
  3. Confirm. A message says "User role updated successfully."

Compliance Manager is the limited role: the person sees only the Dashboard. If you choose the role the user already has, you see "This role is already assigned. Please select a different role to update."

See when someone signed in

  1. Select Settings › Users, then select the Login Activity icon on the user's row.
  2. The side panel "Login activity for" that user lists Organization Name, Tenant and Login Date. Select Export to save the list.

If the user hasn't signed in, the panel says "No Activity yet."

Remove a teammate's access

  1. Select Settings › Users, then select the Revoke access icon on the user's row.
  2. The dialog "Revoking Access?" asks whether you are sure. Select Yes.
  3. The dialog "Reassign resources owned by" that user says you must reassign what they own to an existing user. Under "Select user to assign", pick the person, then select Assign & Delete. Select No to stop.
  4. A message says "Successfully revoked access from" that user.

Set your MSP name and logo, and turn on co-branding

The MSP Admin Details page holds your company or MSP name and logo. Co-branding lets you show your logo to clients. The page explains that the multi-client portal is for your company to manage your clients, and recommends choosing a name that aligns with your organization for better recognition.

The MSP Admin Details page with the company logo, name field and the Show MSP/Admin logo switch

The page has these parts:

  • Company/MSP Logo: a square box where you add a logo. It shows Add Logo when empty and Delete Logo when filled.
  • Your Company/MSP Name: required.
  • Apply co-branding: a Show MSP/Admin logo switch. The page says enabling co-branding will display your company/MSP logo in all client portal. The switch is off and unavailable until you add a logo.
  • Preview: a small mock of a client portal's menu with either your logo (switch on) or the ControlMap logo (switch off).

To set it up:

  1. Select Settings › MSP Admin Details.
  2. Click the logo box or select Add Logo and choose a picture. PNG, JPG, JPEG, JFIF and BMP files up to 1 MB are accepted. A bigger file is refused with "File size should not exceed more than 1MB".
  3. Type your name in Your Company/MSP Name.
  4. To show your logo to clients, turn on Show MSP/Admin logo. The Preview updates.
  5. Select Save Changes, then select Yes in the "Update Confirmation?" dialog. A message says "Successfully updated your company information."

Good to know:

  • Co-branding applies to your whole MSP. Saving applies the name, logo and switch to every active client portal at once. You can't choose per client.
  • To remove the logo, select Delete Logo, then Save Changes. Saving with no logo always clears it.
  • You can't change your portal address on this page.

For how your logo is used for clients, see the article "Co-branding Support of MSP logo".

Add, rename or delete a progress stage

Progress stages are the steps you use to track where each client is in their journey. The Progress Stage page lists them under the heading "Customize progress stages to match your client journey." Each stage has a pencil (edit) and a trash can (delete). The stages you create here are the choices in the Progress Stage picker on each client card on your Dashboard.

The Progress Stage page listing the stages with edit and delete icons and an Add Stage button

  1. To add a stage, select Settings › Progress Stage › Add Stage. Type the Progress Stage Name (for example Assessment, Planning or Implementation) and select Save. A message says "Successfully created Progress stage."
  2. To rename a stage, select its pencil, change the name and select Save. The "Edit progress stage?" dialog tells you how many clients it affects. Select Save Changes.
  3. To remove a stage, select its trash can. The "Delete progress stage?" dialog tells you how many clients it affects. Select Delete.

A stage name that is already in use is refused with "This progress stage name is already in use. Please choose a different name."

Review the activity log

The Activity page is an Activity Log of what has happened in the portal. It records actions on users, clients (tenants), documents, integrations, frameworks and similar items.

  • Entries are grouped under month headings.
  • Each entry has an icon for what it is about, a title, the date and time, and detail text.
  • The list loads 40 entries at a time as you scroll. With nothing yet, it says "No Activity yet".

To filter the log:

  1. Select Settings › Activity, then select the filter icon.
  2. In "Filter Activity", under "Filter By", choose All, Users or Tenants.
  3. Select Apply.

Select the refresh icon to reload the list. Refreshing also removes any filter.
