Overview
Scope decides which of a framework's objectives you assess and track. When a framework organizes its objectives into groups, such as implementation groups, levels or tiers, you can add or remove a whole group at once from the Objectives page using Manage scope.
The steps are the same for any supported framework. The screenshots and examples use CIS Controls v8.1, which groups its objectives into Implementation Groups (IGs).
Adjust the scope
- In the left menu, under your framework, select Objectives. The Assess page opens on the By Objectives tab.
- Above the objectives list, select Manage scope. A dropdown opens with one toggle per group in the framework.
- Read each toggle's label to see what it will do:
- On: the group is in scope. The label starts with Remove all, for example Remove all 56 objectives from scope for Implementation Group 1.
- Off: the group is out of scope. The label starts with Add all, for example Add all 74 objectives to scope for Implementation Group 2.
- Select the toggle for the group you want to add or remove. The change applies right away, with no save button or confirmation. A Success message confirms it, for example Implementation Group 2 objectives moved into scope, and the objectives list refreshes.
- Repeat for any other groups, then select anywhere outside the dropdown to close it.
To undo a change, select the same toggle again. The success message confirms the group moved out of scope.
