Backup compliance shows up in every major framework (CIS, ISO 27001, SOC 2, CMMC, NIST CSF, etc.), and it's traditionally one of the most repetitive evidence tasks in a compliance program.
The Backup Radar integration brings continuous, audit-ready backup evidence into ControlMap automatically: No manual exports, no inconsistent screenshots, no end-of-quarter scramble.
This integration is automatically enabled for Partners with active subscriptions to both ControlMap and Backup Radar and syncs on a weekly basis, so no integration setup is required.
Backup Radar in the MSP Portal
Backup Radar in the MSP Portal
In the MSP Portal, navigate to Integrations > Backup Radar and you can explore the following tabs:
-
Compliance Checks: One compliance check (Backups are enabled and monitored) that applies to every Backup Radar asset belonging to a ScalePad-mapped client.
For each asset, ControlMap looks at the most recent 7 completed days of Backup Radar data (excluding the current day).
Clicking the metric under the Scan Results column opens a side panel with the following tabs: Scan results (the historical pass/fail trend for this compliance check across all the client's enabled assets) and Evidence reports (a list of downloadable PDF evidence reports for each successful sync).
-
Clients: The following details about your integrated Backup Radar clients:
a. Clients: The client's name, sourced from Backup Radar and ScalePad.
b. Status:Active ControlMap Integration is fully live for this Backup Radar client, and backup evidence is flowing to their Tenant portal, framework objectives, and compliance metrics. Failed No Backup Plan is monitoring this asset and no backup activity has been received in the past 7 days. This status often occurs when the backup job has been disabled, the schedule is too infrequent to fall within a 7-day window, or the backup agent has lost connectivity.
Check the Logs tab to review the sync history and underlying error and reconfigure your Backup Plan as needed.Pre-assessment ControlMap integration is not fully live. The Backup Radar client and its assets are visible to you at the MSP level, but their backup evidence is not flowing to a Tenant portal or compliance metrics.
Note: Your Backup Radar clients sync automatically to your ControlMap clients as long as both of these things are true:
• The Backup Radar client name matches a ScalePad client name. Follow the steps in Linking your Backup Radar and ScalePad clients to make sure all your clients are linked to a ScalePad client.
• That ScalePad client has been merged with a ControlMap client. Reach out to our Support team for guidance on this.c. Last Update: When ControlMap last received data for this client.
d. Identifier: The client's Backup Radar identifier (and ScalePad identifier when mapping exists).
-
Assets: Unique Backup Radar assets across all your mapped clients. A Backup Radar asset is identified by client + asset name + backup job name (an asset with two backup jobs appears as two rows).
A historical asset count chart tracks how the asset count has changed over time.
The Assets as of YYYY-MM-DD - Past Reports label gives you a one-click shortcut into the historical evidence reports.
The Enable/Disable toggle lets you exclude an asset from compliance evaluation and evidence reporting, which is useful for Backup Radar assets that are not part of the compliance scope for any framework you are running. Disabled assets are dropped from both the numerator and denominator of the compliance metric.
- Watchers: Manage notification subscribers.
- Logs: Review sync history and any errors.
