ControlMap tenant user roles

ControlMap tenants support five user roles. Assign the role that provides the access a person needs without giving them unnecessary permissions.

Important: These roles apply to users within a ControlMap tenant. They do not describe roles or permissions for users in the ControlMap MSP portal. To manage MSP portal access, see Granting and revoking access to ControlMap for MSP admins.

Super Admin

A Super Admin can perform any action within ControlMap.

Assign this role to users who need unrestricted access to the tenant and its settings.

Compliance Manager

A Compliance Manager can perform most actions within ControlMap and can otherwise do everything a Super Admin can do.

The main difference is that a Compliance Manager cannot change the global MFA selection for users.

Contributor

A Contributor has limited access to policies, evidence, risks, or controls assigned directly to them.

A Contributor can access these item types only when:

  • The relevant option is enabled in the user's settings.

  • The item is assigned directly to the user.

If a Contributor has not been assigned any items, they will not see information in the tenant after signing in.

Auditor

The Auditor role is intended for auditors who need to work in ControlMap.

Auditors:

  • Have access to the Audits page.

  • Can view only the information that has been shared with them.

For more information, see Audits.

Compliance Portal User

A Compliance Portal User is used for onboarding tasks and document acknowledgement.

This role has access only to the My Compliance dashboard, where users can complete assigned onboarding tasks and acknowledge documents.
