The new ControlMap experience gives you one sidebar for everything you do, one search window that also creates records, and a top bar with notifications, help and Copilot. This article is a short tour of where things are, so you can find your way quickly. It describes what Super Admins and Compliance Managers see. Other roles see a smaller sidebar.
The sidebar
The sidebar on the left is on every page. From top to bottom it has:
- Dashboard: your whole-company compliance picture, with a health score, a risk score, progress for each framework and recent activity.
- To do: your work list. Action items, documents and evidence requests in one place, on separate tabs, so you can see what needs doing and move each item along.
- Monitor: what your connected tools report, such as compliance checks, assets, vulnerabilities and user accounts, and where you connect new integrations.
- The framework section, which changes with the framework you pick.
- The Manage group, for items that cover all of your frameworks.
The page you are on stays highlighted in the sidebar. To shrink the sidebar to icons, select the button at the bottom left (Collapse navigation). Select Expand navigation to bring the full sidebar back. ControlMap remembers your choice in your browser.
The framework section
Under Monitor, the framework switcher lists All Frameworks and each framework you have imported. Pick one, and the items below it show that framework's information.
The framework section includes:
- Overview
- Documents
- Objectives
- Plan of Action
- Evidence
- Audits
- Reports
Some frameworks add more items, such as Scope or System Security Plan.
The Manage group
The Manage group holds the lists that cover your whole company, so choosing a framework does not change them:
The top bar
The top bar is also on every page. From left to right it has:
- The account menu: the ControlMap logo and your company name. Open it to switch between clients, open Account Settings, open your profile, change the appearance or sign out.
- The LaunchPad box, described below.
- A light and dark mode toggle. ControlMap saves your choice to your account.
- Notifications (the bell), which opens a Notifications panel.
- Help (the question mark), which opens a panel where you can search help articles. It also links to the Help Center and to Contact ControlMap Support.
- Copilot (the sparkle button). It is available when AI is turned on for you.
LaunchPad: search and quick create
LaunchPad is one window for finding records and creating new ones. To open it, select the LaunchPad box in the top bar, or press ⌘K on a Mac or Ctrl K on Windows. Press Esc to close it.
LaunchPad has two halves:
- Search, on the left: type in the Search for anything box to find controls, evidence, risks, action items, policies and procedures across all of your frameworks.
- Quick create, on the right: tiles for Risk, Action item, Evidence, Asset and Vendor. Type
/to see the same list as commands.
Quick create saves a real record as soon as you select Save.
